Tucson, Arizona is the second largest city in the state and is a great tourist destination for anyone wanting to experience the Great Southwest. Here are a few of the attractions in and around the city: Saguaro National Park - This park is the home to the largest concentration of the famous saguaro cactus. Some specimens grow as tall as 50 feet and the park is dedicated to their preservation, along with the many other species found in the Sonoran desert. The park covers over 90,000 acres and is made up of two parts, one east of Tucson and the other just west of the city. The park contains over 150 miles of hiking trails and scenic drives.



Old Tucson Studios - Located west of the city, Old Tucson Studios is a film and television location and studio facility as well as a family tourist park. The site has been the location for over 300 films and television programs and has been in operation since 1939. John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Jimmy Stewart and many others made films here and there are productions being made there to this day. The studio’s tourist attractions include rides, "shootouts", music and theater and other activities.




Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum - Also located west of the city near the edge of the western section of Saguaro National Park, the Arizona-Sonora Desert museum is much more than just a natural history museum - the facility also houses a zoo and botanical gardens. There are over 300 animal species housed in natural surroundings and more than 1200 plant species in this 21 acre facility which has nearly 2 miles of pathways winding through the exhibits.
